Canada ( / ˈ k æ n ə d ə /) is a country occupying most of northern North America, extending from the Atlantic Ocean in the east to the Pacific Ocean in the west and northward into the Arctic Ocean. It is the world's second largest country by total area. Canada's common border with the United States to the south and northwest is the longest in the world. The land occupied by Canada was inhabited for millennia by various groups of Aboriginal peoples. Beginning in the late 15th century, British and French expeditions explored, and later settled, along the Atlantic coast. France ceded nearly all of its colonies in North America in 1763 after the Seven Years' War. In 1867, with the union of three British North American colonies through Confederation, Canada was formed as a federal dominion of four provinces. This began an accretion of provinces and territories and a process of increasing autonomy from the United Kingdom. This widening autonomy was highlighted by the Statute of Westminster of 1931 and culminated in the Canada Act of 1982, which severed the vestiges of legal dependence on the British parliament. A federation consisting of ten provinces and three territories, Canada is governed as a parliamentary democracy and a constitutional monarchy with Queen Elizabeth II as its head of state. It is a bilingual nation with both English and French as official languages at the federal level. One of the world's highly developed countries, Canada has a diversified economy that is reliant upon its abundant natural resources and upon trade—particularly with the United States, with which Canada has had a long and complex relationship. It is a member of the G8, G-20, NATO, OECD, WTO, Commonwealth, Francophonie, OAS, APEC, and UN. From Wikipedia under the

Q. me and my boyfriend plan on moving into canada (mississauga/toronto area), permanently. but i was wondering what the laws are to become a citizen and to basically immigrate into canada and out of the u.s.. we also need to know if there is also a process for taking animals. i moved there when i was little and it was a fairly difficult process to get ourselves and pets there. so yeah. help? Asked by haymegrez - Mon Oct 8 20:25:24 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments A. www.cic.gc.ca is the immigration web site. Basically you have to have something to offer Canada, and the one of you that has the most to offer (points by education, skill, training, languages) should be the primary applicant for permanent resident status, if you can claim common-law spouse. Animals really aren't much of a problem as long as you have proof of their vaccination history. It is much more complicated for people but the web site details the things you must do and lets you add up your points and see if you will likely be accepted. Will Canada allow this to happen like the Americans in the southwest did? Asked by eddy - Sat Jun 19 20:39:58 2010 - - 9 Answers - 0 Comments A. Hamilton nowhere was it more apparent than at St. Julie Billiart Parish Saturday, June 19, how much the Catholic church has placed itself in the center of the immigration debate. Inside the church s bingo hall, hundreds of Mexicans lined up for passports or Mexican IDs at the Mobile Mexican Consulate s Office. In front of the cathedral on Dayton Street, dozens of activists marched along the street with picket signs, some reading Immigrants welcome. Illegals go home. The Rev. Manuel Viera said the church for years has agreed to host the consular office as a way to serve the community here, very much in line with the teaching of the Catholic church. We have a higher authority to attend to, he said, surrounded by the organized hum… [cont.] Answered by I'm gonna start another riot - Sat Jun 19 20:51:54 2010 Are there any organizations in Canada that accept the pull tabs from pop cans?
Q. I am looking for a place or organization in Canada that accepts pop tops (pull tabs) from aluminum cans, such as pop or beer. I have been saving them for a while and wanted somewhere to donate, by either mail or dropping them off. I reside near Hamilton, so are there any local organizations i can do this? and or any where in canada i could mail them? thanks!! You could try checking with a local service club, such as the Lions, Rotary, etc. Some of them collect the tabs to sell as scrap aluminum (the Lions throughout Alberta do, but I'm not sure about the rest of the country.)
